Kempston and surrounding areas have a proud history supplying the clay and bricks that have been fundamental to this country’s expansion in the twentieth century. And so too, Kempston Academy provides the building blocks for success and achievement for the young people of the town. Success that is built on the secure foundations of Learning, Hard Work, Character and Community.

We strive to be a continuously improving school with exemplary standards that supports the students of Kempston to bright and successful futures. We believe every one of them can succeed when they work with us. Success means growing into aspirational young adults with strong qualifications, who are hard working, curious, kind, responsible and respectful. Together we can shape a successful future for our students, for our school and for our community.

To build Team Kempston, the adults will:

Model the behaviour we expect of our students and of each other;
Plan, create and deliver engaging and enriching learning opportunities confidently and enthusiastically, in and outside of the classroom;
Empower each other by working collaboratively, trusting each other, supporting each other, and valuing each other;
Be open to improvement and engaged with their professional growth by giving and receiving feedback constructively and positively in a highly professional community;
Within clear professional boundaries, consistently treat our students, parents and colleagues with kindness, empathy and respect, building strong professional relationships;
Praise hard work, contribution, courtesy, resilience and achievement;
Speak positively about students and about the school, including when identifying things that need to improve.

To build Team Kempston, the students will:

Arrive at school and at lessons punctually, ready to work hard and learn, in full school uniform and with the equipment they need;
Abide by school rules at the first time of asking and follow the instructions and guidance of all staff respectfully;
Take responsibility for their behaviour, recognising that it is integral to their learning;
Listen actively in their lessons, engage fully and respect other learners;
Recognise that we learn through failure. Learning is not always easy and it requires perseverance, confidence and resilience;
Recognise that every individual in the school has a right to feel safe, to feel happy, to feel confident in themselves and to belong to the school;
Show mutual respect to all members of the school, visitors and the Kempston community;
Contribute towards the growth of our community by supporting others, embracing opportunities for leadership and service and encouraging each other to reach for the best of themselves;
Be proud ambassadors for Kempston Academy by behaving respectfully, courteously and considerately at school and in the local community, whether in school uniform or not.
