Student Reports and Parent's Evenings
Understanding student reports
The report will reflect upon the learning that has taken place over the past term and will give you a clear picture of the following:
Headings on the report: |
Explanation: |
Attitude to learning |
Were they focussed? Did they try their best? Did they demonstrate good behaviour in lessons? |
Contribution to lessons |
Did they get involved and answer questions in lessons? Did they take part in discussions? Were they engaged in the learning? |
Homework |
Did they complete all the homework? Was this completed on time? How was the quality of the work submitted? |
For each of these headings, we will use one of the following words:
Excellent |
This is outstanding and exemplary |
Good |
This is above average |
Satisfactory |
This is average and could be better |
Unsatisfactory |
This is below average and is an area to improve |
For each subject at KS3, your child’s current grade (how well you child has achieved) is identified as using the following terms:
'Accomplished, Skilled, Competent, Improving, Emerging'
Emerging |
Student is starting to develop the concepts, skills and knowledge taught this term |
Improving |
Student is becoming more familiar with the concepts, skills and knowledge taught this term |
Competent |
Student is becoming more secure the concepts, skills and knowledge taught this term |
Skilled |
Student is more confident and skilled with the concepts, skills and knowledge taught this term |
Accomplished |
Student is accomplished in the concepts, skills and knowledge taught this term |
There is also a target grade, derived from what we would expect your child to achieve based on their KS2 SATS exams. At Kempston Academy we would always aspire for your child to confidently meet or exceed this grade. The report will also provide a reminder of previous grades this academic year so you can see the progress that has been made for each subject. Assessment Point 1 (AP1) for the Autumn Term
Assessment Point 2 (AP2) for the Spring Term
and Assessment Point 3 (AP3) for the Summer Term.
At KS4 your child will be starting their GCSE courses and the current grade will be based on recent assessments in class.
