Mobile Phones

We understand that mobile phones are part of today’s modern society and the majority of students own a mobile phone. We understand that for safety reasons students may carry a mobile phone in order to contact parents/carers outside of school hours on their way to and from school.

In addition DfE guidance and research highlights that removing mobile phones from the school day provides significant benefits to our pupils' education and well-being. By ensuring our policy is
adhered to, we aim to:

● Improve Focus and Academic Achievement: Eliminating digital distractions allows pupils to
engage more deeply with their learning and improves overall focus during lessons.
● Reduce Disruption: A phone-free environment minimises classroom interruptions, ensuring
that teaching and learning time is protected for everyone.
● Enhanced Safety and Well-being: A strict policy helps to decrease instances of bullying and
protects pupils from the risks associated with unsupervised online activity during the school
day.
● Foster Social Interaction: By removing screens during break and lunchtimes, we encourage
pupils to talk to one another, build friendships, and develop vital social skills in a face-to-face
setting.

As a result, the use of mobile phones during school hours is completely forbidden and will be
sanctioned according to the KA Behaviour & Consequence Ladder.
