Art
'You can’t use up creativity, the more you use the more you have' Maya Angelou.
We believe our art and design education provides and inspires personal expression, cultural understanding, creative and practical responses, and promotes imaginative risk-taking. We aim to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to ensure ambition and success in this subject.
Through our art curriculum, students are taught not only how to use formal elements within their artwork, but to also analyse how formal elements are used as powerful communication tools to create effect. Our curriculum is accessible to all of our students; it allows them to grow and develop to be able to think creatively and critically, as well as develop an understanding of their own and others’ cultural heritages through the study of a diverse range of artists. Art is a subject that can help us to understand and give meaning to the world in which we live.
